While teaching art, I watched kids tap into and control their emotions- which led to improved decision making. I wrote behavior plans that incorporated art, and the student success rate prompted an interest in art as therapy. For the last eight years, I have applied therapeutic concepts to art-based activities in educational, museum, nursing home, correctional, and other community settings.
How this works
This site sells therapeutic kits that go beyond talk therapy. Each kit contains three activities with enough supplies to complete all three activities at least three times. You need neither artistic ability nor understanding of therapeutic concepts. It’s easy, affordable, confidential and convenient. The emphasis is on the processing of your thoughts, not on the aesthetic of the finished piece. It will help to complete each kit (monthly) until you experience the desired change in your thoughts, actions and behavior. An even better tool is to keep all of your work and make comparisons. Look for repetition and patterns.
